In the backstage of the auction house, Daniel Motto enters a dim, silent room where the memory device is supposed to be—but instead, Nina Voss sits on the APERTURA chair, poised like a figure of quiet authority. Their exchange is cold and precise—Nina questions Daniel’s past and minimal choices, making it clear she now holds the upper hand. As the tension tightens, she activates the glowing memory device, which briefly erases his memory of being a spy.

APERTURA: The Draped Gesture

Apertura is a study of movement—an exploration of how fabric stretches and folds over the body, how it clings, releases, and reshapes with every gesture. Inspired by the gesture of a woman’s leg in motion, this piece seeks to translate that organic dynamism into a sofa, making the inanimate feel alive.

The design follows two key principles:

  1. Dressing the Object – Borrowing from disciplines beyond furniture, Apertura recalls the intimacy of fabric embracing the body, wrapping the object in a language of tension and fluidity.

  2. Commanding Presence – More than just a functional piece, it demands to be noticed, remembered. An object that engages the senses, leaving an imprint in the mind like a fleeting movement that lingers.

Apertura is much like a figure in motion, much like a body in fabric.
